A thread to talk about possible abilities gained from charactors that Gamer would meet. Any game charactor. Even JADE! <.< I liked Beyond Good And Evil....
Also a thread to talk about the Game Station in general, methinks. Origons, how it works, why you would want it ect
Link would totally be the Spin Attack, for one. Or the sword beams. Gamer wouldn't need the Master Sword, would he? He already has the Beam BatImeanSword.
And since I mentioned Jade inexplicably... he'd get that disc shooter thing. And maybe the ability to sneak.
In my opinion for pokemon I'm thinking of something like the pokeballs in SSB and SSBM. Summon a pokemon, it does an attack then disappears.
For Samus, I would say he would get the charge beam. Much like the Super Scope (as seen in CG: OCC) he would get Samus' blaster which would be able to shoot small shots and the bigger shots.
But that wouldn't add the variety to it. It'd be the same thing with Megaman's blaster. He's more widly known for the blaster, yes, but Gamer already has a gun, he doesn't need more.
Samus would be Ice Beam! Cause Ice Beam was in Metroid before any other game.
If he makes a link with Samus, I think that he'd get the Ball mode, but at the same time, that would probably hurt. Alot. Poor Gamer, crushed into a ball by his own power...
I doubt whether Pokemon would even be realized, thus calling into question what he would get from them. They would prove to be far too dangerous. I mean, sure they're pretty much harmless in their first forms (ones that do not level up are excluded from this comment), but as they level up and evolve, they get VERY dangerous. Pokemon have caused problems in the games, as seen with Snorlax blocking routes and Red Gyrados causing problems in the lake (Admittedly, the latter was caused by Team Rocket, but it shows how troublesome they can be when enraged.) They have also caused trouble in the cartoons like Diglets stoping construction, and even in the manga, in which a giant Haunter was using Dream Eater on the Pokemon and humans of Lavender Town for years. Pokemon are just too much of a danger to realize.
Not just that, but there is about four-hundred of them now, so there is no way they would realize THAT many beings all in one go. And if he gets powers from them, the only way he would be able to use their powers if he himself gained their power (ex: Gamer able to do Teleport, like Psychic Pokemon) was if he linked with a Ditto, but he already has copied a copy ability. Oh, he could do Mew, but I don't think they would realize TMs and HMs. If Gamer gets Pokeballs from linking, I think it would be through linking with a trainer, but then he would be limited to the team the trainer had at the time of the link.
Heh. Imagine if the trainer had a team of Dittos. Not much help there. But imagine if the trainer had a high-level team consisting of something like a Typhlosion, a Articuno, a Mew, a Gengar, a Houndoom, and a Raichu. I pray that Gamer has a full set of badges...
Well, who knows what IDR'll do? If they were gonna create all the Pokemon, they wouldn't just realease them into the wild, would they? They'd probably do something like Pokemon stadiums or breeding grounds? Those would be good for studying all kinda of things about Digitally Realized beings, see if they're "normal". And then Team Rocket would all come and Gamer would have to save the day....
But as things are going now, they're only realizing the main charactor from the games, so Pikachu would probably represent Pokemon. Or Ash/Satoshi. Pikachu's power is obvious, but with Ash...I'm going with SSB random pokeball tosses.
I agree, Pokemon seem a little too big a thing to bring into the real world, maybe a digital realm but otherwise, yeah, just a few single examples from pokemon
Samus, I'd say the power would have to be the Screw Attack. The icon for it is pretty much the metroid series logo, after all.
Personally, I'd love it if he ended up getting a link with one of the metroids instead, but thats probably just because the first one I played was Super Metroid and I totally fell in love with that larva one that grew up and was all, Skree! <3 Mummy!

Other suggestions could include...Final Fantasy? Some of that Dark Knight goodness?
Maybe something extra Retro. XP Pacman? Ability to eat badguys/ghosts? Nahhh....Jetpac? Wait....BUBBLE BOBBLE! =D
That or...hmm...Castlevania is pretty big, but considering the whole thing revolves around the villain and his house rather than the protaganists, I think IDS would be cautious on that front. XD
According to a poll of a major magazine, the current most popular video game charactor is Master Chief. This is follwed by alot of Nintendo charactors, Mario was a very close second.
What would Gamer get from Halo? I've never played that game.
Other weapons he could get... The Beam sword perhaps? Or Plasma Grenades.
Oh heres another character, Viewtiful Joe. Trying to stray away from his common abilities (Zoom, Fast, Slow) I think he would get the "Voomerang." Throwing a sharp boomerang that, in the game, was on Joes helmut.
I've said it once and I'll say it again: Gamer would not get any repeat powers. The weapon would simply be useless that way. Though the beam sword is a bit different from his Beam Bat thing >.>
And I remember that comic, but that wasn't Captain Gamer getting it....did Czar get the Needler from Master Chief?! OoO
I think Czar Linked with one of the Covenant, since Master Chief is the hero.
As for Gamer and Halo, maybe he'd get the plasma grenades? Sticky balls of doom in the hands of our favorite non-armored human! Hehe. Imagine...
Grunts: "They're everywhere! AUGH!"
Gamer: "... One man with a plasma grenade and they think an army is upon them."
