Formal Introductions Rules

Welcome to Formal Introductions! This is the place to go to introduce yourself and maybe make a few friends to surf along with you while you explore the forums! To maximize the friends and minimize the enemies, certain rules will need to be adhered to.

1) No spam - An excellent treat on camping trips, but not so welcome in discussion. Posting randomly is likely just to take up space. People will like you more if you just be yourself and explain yourself!

2) Play nice - We're all likeminded individuals who respect each other, so no one person will be nudged out of the way for no good reason. In addition, we can all watch ourself and resolve conflict without setting the forum ablaze. Right?

This also includes knowing the difference between disagreement and antagonism, or burning somebody because they made a comment which may have gone beyond your sense of humor. After you make a post with any bit of anger attached, stop, breathe, breathe again if need be, and look at what you wrote. If that really isn't how you think, or you really aren't that angry any more, you can save friendships by rewriting something more agreeable.

Finally, not only do I want people to play nice, I want people to BE nice. What I mean is that tossing out obscenities and insults everywhere will not promote a friendly environment that anybody can participate. If your style is littered with passive-aggressive insults and obscenity, I ask that you reconsider, since these types of things really are not necessary and you can make a point and make it strong WITHOUT resorting to these things... no matter HOW angry you get when typing.

3) Be humble - Yes, you can have a thread to yourself, but don't be the tyrannical ruler of it. If somebody decides to smear you instead of asking a question or welcoming you to the forums, contact an administrator. Fighting fire with fire will only create more fire that the forum at large has to suffer.

4) Keep it on introduction and information - Make a smashing post about yourself, including any sites that you run or are a part of, and ask any questions, but don't let the discussion stray too far away from that. For example, you can talk about your account on a website where you have a story, you can list your stories, you can even describe your stories, but don't get into the nitty-gritty of plot points and have a back-and-forth discussion with one other user. Of course, posts welcoming the thread creator are welcomed and enjoyed.

Those are pretty much the bare-bones basics of what this forum is about. If you can think of anything else, post away and good ideas will be added in for future updates to the list.

5) Administrators, namely CG, will introduce themselves as well

How's that? *snicker*

He could probably argue that the comics and stories are all the introduction he needs, though. Cool
And hey, who'd argue, its all his. Forum Index -> Formal Introductions
