Herein we post awesome Youtube videos, talk about favorite movies, movies we want to see, do movie reviews, etc.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend was a surprisingly good movie. I expected it to be more along the lines of a Frat Pack movie (Wedding Crashers, Old School), but it was more quirky, kind of like Zoolander. It's not entirely boorish humor, though it does have just enough not to annoy me. It's true that there were a lot of good parts in the trailer, which made me think that the trailer had ALL the good bits, but the whole movie was actually good-to-decent. Check it out if you get the chance.
Hey, I just came back from Underdog. Everything was good about it. Except the writing and development of minor charactors was absolutly terrible. I mean, the "girlfriend" was just seen, rarely heard. And c'mon, a geiger counter is supposed to go off when radioactive ingredients are PRESENT! Not when absent!
Other than that, acting and special effects were pretty decent.
Just saw Transformers.
Really cool.
Neat recycleed plot.
Great graphics.
Realistic robots.
Spent the rest of the day thinking about the franchise as a hole, looked it up on Wikipedia, and found out more about that show than I ever knew. Didja know that in the Japanese version of Transformers: Robots in Diguise, Optimus Prime is't even the same robot as the origional "Convoy"? Nope, he's "Fire Convoy".
Of course you didn't know that. I didn't know that until yesterday.

Youtube eh? Movies eh? Bacon and ehhggs???? Wait...
Anywag.
While perousing Youtube I typed in the name of a film me, a friend and 4 people we didn't know at a college prep thingy all the way back in March. And its actually on the TUBE!
It's an older one, but "What's Up, Doc?" is HILARIOUS!! I could not stop laughing! It has an excellent plot, good effects, and the acting is great too. It has got to be one of the best comedies ever.
firemastrr
Another one:
You haven't lived until you've seen the movie "Forrest Gump." It is my all-time favorite movie. It has excellent acting, a good storyline, and the way that they integrate a fictional character into real life is just incredible. It is an even mix of comedy, romance, and action/adventure. It's the best.
Anybody else here seen Ask a Ninja? the Videos are on Youtube and www.askaninja.com
Chocolate Ninja
Evil Overmom! I'd almost forgotten about this, but it's great.
Anomaly
In terms of movies, the most recent ones I saw were Spider-Man 3 and Transformers - both of which were just plain awesome. If you're a fan of either franchise, they're must-sees.
In terms of online... well, there's Pure Pwnage, of course. Great show, despite what it did to my brother's speech patterns.
I'm sure anyone who's played Street Fighter III will be amazed at this.
I'm sure anyone with eyes will be amazed at this.
And, a little something for the Leroy Jenkins fans out there.
Skybait J
Has anyone here seen Stardust? If you havnt GO SEE IT! I was seriously suprised at how friggin awesome it was! SERIOUSLY! The jokes were good and well done, the story was a little predictable, but it had some awesome twists you never see coming. And the best part, in my opinion, is that the commercials don't give everything away! Nor do they show all the good jokes in the commercials! I mean, it's not to the same level of awesome as some of those big movies out there, but for an unknown title, this is seriously a movie worth watching! I give it an A! An A, I say!
Also, though this is a pretty old movie, Little Shop of Horrors is great. Sadistic dentists and man-eating plants. Make sure to watch the alternate ending on Youtube afterwards.
Captain Gamer
I thought to link you some of my favorites on YouTube until I made the choice to link you directly to the list!
What's in there? See for yourself, hmm?
Konoko
CG, I carefully saved up my responses after watching a bunch of those videos. However, the cumulative effect caused me to explode with joy.
Hare Hare Yukai, Ash & May Everytime We Touch, the retrospectives, the piano things...
Totally pre-empted me too, since I was gonna share the Hare Hare Yukai things, along with the voice actors singing other songs...xP
Excerpt of the Sonic Movie. Between the voice acting, the animation budget, the various jokes (some dirty, some silly)...yeah, its just hilarious to me.
I'm sure Sonic yells "What you say" at one point. And the yelling thing too..x3
My mom kept whining "Let's go see ResiEvil! Let's go see ResiEvil!" Of course when I looked up movie times, ResiEvil wasn't playing yet, silly mommy. It didnt come out for two more weeks. So we went to see 3:10 to Yuma. I guess it was pretty cool, but they killed Dr Potter! And I was all like, nooooo, don't kill, Dr Potter, he's COOL! "Did you see me hit that one with a shovel?!" then BAM! Dead Doctor. One thing that I noticed, howeverm it that Dr Potter was more of a vet, and that he didnt work on humans, when in reality, doctors back then would work on both animals and humans. =/
So, two weeks later, mom dragged me to see Resident Evil: Extiction, which more or less sucked, and I only understood it because I had played half of a ResiEvil game and it was still stupid. Basically, it was move from point A to point B, kill some zombies, move from point B to point C, kill some zombies, move from point C to point D, kills some zombies, fight end boss. A why the hell were all the zombies trying to get into Umbrella Inc? I think I'll only remember it for the jokes we cracked afterwards. IE, Army of Alice? Why not a ZOMBIE ARMY! Or better yet, ZOMBIE ALICE ARMY! OMG, let's get some shoes. Then let's get some zombies. Then we'll put the shoes ON the zombies!...Well, it was funny when I said it =/
firemastrr
Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Funniest.
Movie.
Ever.
Skybait J
I beg to differ.
Shawn of the Dead is the funniest movie ever. And so is Kung Fu Hussle.
Or rahter, there is no "funniest move ever" its all opinion.
But I reeeeally liked Kung Fu Hussle ;-;
firemastrr
Okay, okay, but I still think that Holy Grail was the funniest. True, though, that is all opinion. Which leads us to an interesting question. What do you think is the funniest movie of all time?
Koji_Tsunami
I'm gonna have to agree with Firemastrr here guys.
Monty Python is pretty funny. But the ending sucked.
firemastrr
That was the only problem I had with that movie. There was no way they could have given it a worse ending. Otherwise, though, it was great.
Skybait J
It's not a bad ending, its just like the end of Nuklear Age.
Something like, what really is funny? Its the opposite of what you expect that makes something funny. So the ending was a joke, because it wasnt what you expected....but it wasnt funny.
That is, Czar and I have always unofficially imagined an opening to a Captain Gamer show with the original, but this cover... Ask me what it fulfills that the original is missing, and I will not be able to tell you. If anything, this extra something is for this song's merit, not against original's.
Skybait J
Wah? Not the song I expected here, but I suppose it fits...in its own way. It doesnt exactly fit the video game themes, however
Chocolate Ninja
Indeed better than the original. Reminds me of Captain Gamer in the same sort of way that Captain Gamer reminds me of Doctor Who.
I would expect the theme song to be a bit more game-ish, though. <_<
Skybait J
When I read DD, I always have the repective game themes get stuck in my head. Dunno what's gonna get stuck in my head for the next chapter, however, I've never played a DK game XD
Koji_Tsunami
It's a bit "gameless"
It works well though.
Not what I expected at all, but quite good.
I mixed up some clips from Mega Man 8, and using the voice talents of Koji (me!), Firemastrr, and AritusKane (whom none of you know), I have created this movie. Type. Thing.
Oh, and 'til the end, you can see John Johnson doing somthing other than standing there in a flashback!
Majin Luigi
Has anybody else been forunate to come across this video?
My favorite line from that is "Brush Your TEETH!!"
Majin Luigi
Would it be a corrrect assumption that everybody here has at least heard of LittleKuriboh's Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged Series?
Anomaly
I have heard of it - though, as I've never watched the unabridged Yu-Gi-Oh, I'm not planning to actually watch the abridged series.
Captain Gamer
Watching the real Yu-Gi-Oh is 100% unnecessary for watching the abridged series. To not watch TAS based off of that would be depriving yourself of fine English comedy. In America.
Koji_Tsunami
Yeah, you don't need to know anything about Yu-Gi-Oh! to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! Abridged. It's pretty self explanitory.
If you haven't seen it yet,you should. Trust me on this one. YGO TAS is Super-Special-Awesome.
Did someone say Abridged Series?
IN A-...wait, dammit, cap beat me to it.
Whot a bunch of bloody wankers.
</english> ...wait, that should probably stay on.
*goes back to Waterlollies on NG*

Impatience was his undoing. I was thinking the exact same thing: Super! SUPER! And immediately knew that if he did without an opening, it would all end in tears
Further proof that he is Masters not just in name.
Trust me, everybody else. I may have spoiled the winner, but the ending MUST be seen by everybody. Especially you.

Wooo...thats some real good animation o.o
I've been watching lots and lots of Phoenix Wrong Movies. Some of them arent that good, but some of them are hillarious <.<
The first one. Awesome.
The latter two, impressive, definately for a cappella.
Anomaly
Burning Starfire...
Although I'm bringing an AMV to the table, it's not for the sake of the AMV itself - it's just the only way I could think of to show you the song, which is one of my favourites.
Dragonforce - Starfire
Even better if you can find the lyrics - *gasp* Would you look at that? I just did.
Old final fantasy AMV, one of the earliest I saw in fact and I still like it. :3
AMV with various anime, to Foo Fighters Best of You, by Jihaku. I got the high definition one ages ago and when watching this I always try to name as many of the different sources of clips as I can recognize. xP
Kannaduki no Miko. Heavy Spoiler Warning if you ever plan to watch this series about lesbians and big mecha. Seriously.
And Haruhi.
The anime I recognized from the Jihaku vid: AIR, Wolfs Rain, Macross Zero, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Rurouni Kenshin, Elfen Lied, RahXephon, Ah My Goddess, Bleach, Hajime no Ippo, FLCL, Beck, Akira, Lain, Full Metal Alchemist, Monster, Steamboy, Code Geass, Naruto, Spirited Away, Inuyasha, Slayers, Azumanga Daioh, Haibane Renmei, Tsukihime. I think I also saw Getbackers. Theres others I probably should be able to name, since other parts look familiar, but I can't recall.
Guys, Beowulf is freakin' epic. Go see it. Now. Yes, right now. Somehow. Teleport yourself.
Skybait J
....Beowulf sucked. Please dont go see it, it's just another guy movie with lots of sex and nudity for everyone. [/nooffence]
It's pretty. I'll give it that.
My mom liked it because she's read the original poem.
Chocolate Ninja
I read the original poem as well. <_< I'll admit that it was at best a bare-bones version of its plot, but there was actually a message in there behind the Angelina Jolie and gratuitous but awesome fight scenes. You just had to sit through the first half.
Skybait J
Dont be wooed by evil demon women? =/
Chocolate Ninja
Not exactly. The moral of the story was, heroism is not about pride and making yourself look good. A true hero is willing to sacrifice his pride and his life in order to save others. The point was that Beowulf was not a hero because of his great deeds, but due to the redemption and nobility in his character.
Koji_Tsunami
Well, I want to see "The Golden Compass", partly because it looks good, and partly because of people who think their religion is better than everyone else's. [rant]So some people go off to kill god. So what? I think that souds like a good movie, not a direct assault at people's religions. And even if The author of the book was trying to convert children to aetheism, it would never work because of the simple fact that if you've been raised in a religion, you'll probably stick with it for life unless you experience somthing truly life-altering, and reading a novel/seeing a movie isn't somthing I'd call "life-altering".[/rant]
So yeah, it looks like a good movie.
Skybait J
....I read the books when I was eleven or twelve, and I never got the impression that it was being anti-christian. It was just a cool book with great ideas to me.
And then I read it again about a year ago...and it STILL didnt strike me as being athiest or anti-Christian. I didnt make the comparison until...like...recently, when one of my friends was ranting about it.
Konoko
Woah. Silent Hill flashback to God Killing.
>.> Theres a lot of stuff that people react to as a bit of a kneejerk thing and sounds like this is one of them, though I really hadn't heard anything outside of this topic. Probably because I wasn't really looking for info. But yeah, unless they're quite specifically naming a real life religion and stating it as evil and then killing it and then trying to say its non-fiction...then you can complain but still haven't got much to worry about.
<.< I really should get round to that series, but I decided I'd watch the movie first, then read the books after. That way, I won't be comparing the movie to the books while I'm watching it.
Tifa takes out her frustration at being the most objectified Final Fantasy girl on Emerald Weapon. Kinda on-dragging, but most Final Fantasy solo videos are.
EDIT: If you liked the 'Boot to the Head' that Skybait J introduced at the top of the previous page, you'll love this one.
REPPUKEN!

Not exactly Tetris, but I started dramatically shouting "It's impossible for ME!!!" occasionally since.
Go Ninja, go ninja, go! Go! (NOT a Naruto anime music video)
Come for the boy's dance, stay for the Rockman parody.
This is 100% fan-made. How!?

You got me looking through some other shining finger related videos until I ended up watched Robot Taisen stuff.
Urban Ninja! Still an awesome video. Good ol' emcmonkeys. :3
The Hare Hare Yukai collection ended up leading me to a training video.
Tried hard, still couldn't get it right. D: Need more practice.
The fan made video...just wow. Liked Tifa at the end. >.> DOA girls so gonna lose. Especially considering the Emerald weapon video, which was awesome too. :3 *goes to get out FF7 again*
Edit: PS, Tetris video was great. :3

I think "Dead Fantasy" was made by the same guy who made "HALOID".
Except that the ending to HALOID is evil (You'll see once you watch it.)
Back to media movies, people who aren't all into action and comedy should go see Juno if it's still out. It's the first time I've seen teen pregnancy taken in stride, e.g. not the end of the world. Scratch that, it does have a recessive genre of humor. I'll probably have a lot more to say about it in the next, ahem, 'GamerBlog', as Anomaly puts it.
EDIT: Automatic Mario. Stages made so you beat it by doing NOTHING. Stay to the bitter end for a well-timed stomp own.
Skybait J
Juno is in indeed a good veiw on how our society has evolved into what it is...to put it nicely.
We only get like, three Junos a year here. Not bad at all, considering that pregancy in general is no longer an issue at all. Popping another one out? Right, there's no suffering, we have cures to all that ails you at any stage you may be. Have several more, we dont really care much. It doesnt matter that you're a teenager, you have no means of self-support, and if you do, then it doesnt matter that your child will probably never see you have have a poorer upbringing. Oh, and it doesnt matter that most teenagers arent physically or mentally ready for pregancy. We have cures for that.
...This movie will only serve to supplement our apathy and aide our Roman-imitation fall. Or maybe it wont. I've only seen commercials. Maybe it will take pregnacy in stride and yet show these bad economic choices. I eint going to see it.
Captain Gamer
See Juno when it comes out on DVD, then come back and give a second opinion when you know what the movie is about and what it to depict. Informed opinions for the win.
Skybait J
My post was scathing, so why couldnt yours be? Every action deserves an equal reaction...
Sorry, but when it comes to....
yeah ill shut up now
Sorry
Captain Gamer
Another song I'd love to have incorporated into a Captain Gamer medium. Epic fight scene/montage perhaps?
The first 1:30 is intentionally creepy, and the next minute is build-up, and the real meat of the song is from about 2:43 on.

Whoa, it's like some kind of conveyor belt of win.
I've heard Juno is good, though I tend to distrust other peoples' opinions. Nevertheless, I'll probably see it at some point.
Check it out! Uhh, unless you don't like Brawl spoilers.
Skybait J
Wow....thats really a lot of variety in the smashes. they almost seem unbalanced in power...o.o
Konoko
Depends what you mean by unbalanced. Yes, there are going to be Smashs that are much better than others and some which are much better in certain hands. The area attack ones are perhaps simpler, but in good hands, ones like Yoshi's and Snakes could be more effective and versatile. Some are only good for one opponent, some best for many.
Plus, the Smash's are only one facet of the character. An otherwise overall below average character may have a very useful Smash, for instance. And on the other hand, the Smash ball thing can be hard to get, perhaps depending slightly on the item set-up/number of players.
Skybait J
Well, I was just comparing Peach's to some of the other Smashes >.>;;;
Some do massive damage, but some hit out of the park. Or is that due to different damage counters...crap, I didnt check XD
I saw Sweeny Todd, or bought it. A few weeks ago, actually but this is in need of some life kickin'. Tim Burton is my favorite director, and Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors. Those two together=INSTANT WIN. Music was beautiful, costumes and makeup made even the pretty seem haggard. It look beatiful and SOUNDED beautiful....despite being an "ugly world" thing It...well seriously, it was a musical. I knew that before I bought it, honestly! Musicals in this day and age have to be good. Elsewise no one will go see em. But the songs were wonderful, wonderful, they had such depth and power to them. Though what kinda threw me off guard was Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall. Who were BOTH in Harry Potter as Snape and Pettigrew respectivly. I dunno...threw me off a bit? Still, an amazing movie. By Tim Burton. You can NEVER go wrong with Tim Burton. No matter what people say! Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was awesome in its own way, SERIOUSLY! Don't dis Burton's inherent creepy edge! Wish I HAD bought that two disc set....of Sweeny Todd I mean.
Skybait J
DOUBLE POST FEAR!
Dark Knight was WAY better thasn Batman Begins! WAY BETTER!
...What the hell are they going to do without Heath Ledger????
Majin Luigi
...Not put Joker in any more movies? Seems like the logical choice to me.
I recently saw "Get Smart". I guess it was kind of funny.
But not infinitely awesome.
Skybait J
Nobody in the theatre got "But bones are crunchy..."
NOBODY! You had to be SMART to get that one XD
TCC
or dumb enough to not get it so much that you thought they meant something else! lol... anywho, i was talking with my dad about heath ledger, and the next bat man movie and stuff, and he thought that johnny depp would be a good replacement, and that it would be a bad idea not to include the joker scince he lived through the whole movie (by the way how terrafyin5t66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666... stupid cat... terrafying was he in that! "why so serious?" is now my favorite movie quote) what other villains would be able to make such an epic sequal than the joker and ??? (i think killer crok, baine, riddler, or MAYBE poison ivy... maybe because extremely unreasonable scientific explenations would make it less epic...)
Koji_Tsunami
NO! No more Johnny Depp! One of my friends(?) suffers from extreme Johnny Depp fangirlism, and I don't need another reason for her to go raving mad over the guy!
The rest however, is an obvious reference. What the crap is this show? XD
Koji_Tsunami
It's Hayate the Combat Butler.
It's about a sixteen year-old boy named Hayate Ayasaki whose gambling parents ran up so many debts that they sold their son's organs to the yakuza.
Hayate decided to kidnap a girl and hold her for ransom so he could pay back the yakuza, but instead ended up rescuing her for some other kidnappers, and then confessing his nonexistent love for her. Long story short, his debt got switched from the Yakuza to the (ridiculously rich) girl, so now he's her butler, though it's a far cry from what real butlers do, as the title suggests.
It's pretty off-the wall, as you can see.
...By the way, there really is a Hayate the Combat Butler Card Game.
Ya. Rly.
